WASHINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION

 

 

Minutes- March 22, 2005

 

 

1.0 Assembly: Time 7:00 p.m.

Present: Rich Cook, Sandy Robinson, Carol Andrews, Mike Andrews, Tom Taylor, Peter France (sent proxy with Sandy).

 

2.0 Approval of Minutes: approved as printed

 

3.0 Old Business:

3.1 Dredge and Fill Committee- no activity.

3.2 Congratulations to our newest Selectman Rich Cook.

3.3 Election of officers: Sandy moved that we elect Carol Andrews to the position of chair, Vice-Chair position will remain open temporarily, Sandy will be acting Secretary until we can fill the position, Mark Cummings to be added as new member, Mike Andrews will move to an alternate position. Second by Mike. Vote was unanimous. Tom has 2 prospects for new members; he will follow up with these people.

3.4 Saving Special Places 2005: Conservation Tools for a Growing State. Saturday, April 16 at the John Stark Regional High School in Weare. 8:30-4:00. $45 per person, $35 each for 2 or more people from the same organization who register at the same time. $50 after April 4. This conference is highly recommended. Workshop details can be found at www.forestsociety.org. Sign up by email or phone Trish Churchill signup@spnhf.org, 224-9945. Carol will email a copy of the brochure.

3.5 Adopt a Highway dates for 2005: April 15th, June 17th, August 19th, October 21st. The Conservation Commission is responsible to clean up route 31 from the Library to Mad Road. Please bring gloves. It usually takes no more than 2 hours. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. behind the Town Hall.

3.6 The group set dates for Conservation Commission sponsored hikes: July 12th (Tuesday), August 17th (Wednesday), Septemaber 17th (Saturday), October 8th (Saturday of Columbus Day weekend- hike Lovewell Mt.). Have individuals sponsor each outing (this would include publicity for the event, but not necessarily trip leader responsibilities). We will discuss this at the next meeting.

 

4.0 Natural Resource Inventory:

4.1   Carol will contact Jack Sheehy and send a memo to the Planning Board to offer our help with the NRI.
