  Public Hearing Minutes

December 2, 2015

Conservation Commission Public Hearing regarding the spending of conservation fund money to purchase lot TM 12-183, as conservation land.

Members present: Arin Mills, Jed Schwartz and Nan Schwartz

Public present: Kitty West, Kathy West

At 6:30PM, Jed Schwartz called the hearing to order.

Jed spoke about the expenditure of the conservation fund money and the project. The lot is a 5-acre piece adjacent to the Meadow Lot Town Forest owned by the Chute family. It has a small area of upland covered with large pine and hard wood on Route 31 (or South Main Street). The rest of the land is wetlands. The lot is located between the two bridges at the bottom of the hill before town. We feel it is a valuable piece for conservation purposes and is shown on the Wildlife Action Plans map as a highly ranked habitat for the state and the biological region and is a part of a large wetlands complex. We shared pictures of the property and a satellite map. Kitty West asked about the price of the property. Jed said the Chutes have agreed to sell us the lot at a bargain price of $4000. Everyone voiced support for the project and thought it was a good deal.

The hearing was closed at 6:45 PM.

Nan made a motion to close on the property as previously agreed to by the full Conservation Commission for $4000, plus half the closing costs, Arin seconded the motion and all voted in favor.

Respectfully submitted,

Nan Schwartz
