Washington Energy
Committee Minutes
April 8, 2010
Present: Al Krygeris, Lindley Rankine and Johanna Young
- March
minutes were approved as written.
- The PV
project is still on hold until we find out what load the town garage can
hold. The town may have to hire a structural engineer, reports Al
Krygeris, in order to calculate the load bearing, along with snow.
- Once
that load is determined, we can proceed with the PV project and working
with the contractor who made the original proposal.
A woman from SmartStart, Susan Blothenburg, came out to the
town to look at lighting. However, we already had work done. We might be able
to have the lighting in Camp Morgan Lodge replaced with more energy efficient
lighting, since we have already had other municipal buildings done already.
School House audit has been completed. Tobias, who did the
Town Hall audit, also did this audit, but was unable to do a blow door test. He
might try again another day when conditions are more favorable for conducting
the test. Report will be done later.
The School House has a lot of issues.
Al noted that perhaps there will be other grant
opportunities in the future so that we could weatherize the old School House.
New Business
- C. Bob
Fraser would like to rejoin the WEC. Committee members were in favor of
having him rejoin. Johanna Young will write a letter to the selectmen.
- Al
notes that NSEA has asked people to voice opposition to the proposed solar
project in by PSNH in Manchester, as it would take away some of the funds
originally intended for other energy efficiency projects.
- Al is the process of collecting 2009 energy inventory data to add to the EPA portfolio manager. When Bob rejoins the committee, he can help Al with this project. The portfolio manager will track the town's energy usage over time.
- Al
suggested we submit a description of our recent activities to Cool Planet
for inclusion on their regular newsletter. Johanna will take care of that.
- Meeting
adjourned at 7:39 p.m. Next
meeting will be May 13 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall.
Respectfully submitted by,
Johanna Young, WEC Chair
