Washington Energy
Committee Minutes
May 12, 2016
Amended Minutes
Present: Andrew Hatch, Johanna Young and Al Krygeris ( joined at 7:45 p.m.)
¥
Andrew suggested checking out oldewindowrestorer.com, as
there are resources there for residents who want to make their historic homes
more energy efficient.
Andrew reports the
Gibsons are still looking for some solutions for
skylights in their home (to reduce the leaky windows)
Legislative updates: one of the promising
energy bills; SB 492 to increase RGGI funds for municipalities, was tabled,
unfortunately.
¥
Andrew noted that the program for energy audits through Eversource has spent all its funds for 2016. There was some
discussion about the Town Garage and whether or not the TG is eligible for a
discount for more energy efficient lighting. Andrew will forward the name of a
customer service contact there, when he gets that information. Because 95% of
TG lighting is from the solar panels, it means the TG is not eligible for the Eversource savings programs for energy efficient lighting.
Despite that an inventory of lighting had been done and Ed had filled out the
application for a lighting incentive program.
¥
There is a new tool on the Eversource
website that includes an energy calculator. The interface can be downloaded and
energy use data can be entered directly.
¥
Andrew is now an alternate on the town Planning Board, but
he hasnÕt had the opportunity to bring up possible energy retrofits in
municipal buildings.
¥
Andrew attended the annual Upper Valley Energy Committee
roundtable at the Montshire Musuem
in Norwich, Vermont. He reported on the WEC activities and said it was a good
event. There was a lot of focus about solar campaigns.
People spoke about their Energy Chapters in their Master Plans. LED lighting is
very popular. Vermont is facing negative political pressure re: energy. There
was also some talk about micro-hydro.
Nh, however, had
lots of positive news about net-metering.
Al will reach out to another potential WEC member, Roxy Otterson.
Upcoming action
plans:
¥
Andrew to reach out to Dunbarton
about infared cameras
¥
Continue dialog about energy efficiency and the TG
The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.

Johanna Young
