Minutes July 10, 2008
Present: Jerry Klohs, Al Krygersis, Lindley Rankine and Johanna Young
1.0 May minutes accepted as written
2.0 Old Business: Report on Green Film night series – we had hoped for larger attendance, but the attendance was smaller than the first night. The committee discussed whether a different night would be better and what topics might be of more interest to residents
3.0 We are interested in having a speaker come in August or September to talk about ways residents can save energy at home. Tim Sintros, a physics teacher/environmentalist in Keene, might still be a good choice
4.0 Al suggested we could have a mini-energy festival in town combining a speaker, movie, and information booths.
5.0 New Business: Johanna noted that the New England Grassroots Environmental Fund has grants available to foster grassroots environmental initiatives in New England. They have funded a number of town projects in New Hampshire. The deadline is September 15th. The committee talked about applying for a grant, but hasn't come up with a specific plan.
6.0 The Committee also recommended the town institute a no-idling ordinance for town vehicles as a way to save more energy. Other towns in New Hampshire have passed similar ordinances.
Meting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Johanna Young, Chair and Secretary Pro Temps
