Minutes October 9, 2008

 

 

Present: Al Krygeris and Johanna Young

Absent: Jerry Klohs and Lindley Rankine

 

0.0       Johanna made a motion to accept the minutes as written, Al seconded. Minutes were passed.

1.0           Old business: Town Hall thermostat – the staff sets the temperature to 70 when the building is in use, and down to 60 when they leave for the night.  Al is still looking for the right programmable thermostat.

2.0           Update on streetlights – Al is still looking at the light bills and will be in touch with the selectmen about which lights would be best to turn off to save on energy bills.

3.0           Education – Johanna emailed the high school about a possible program through the STEM program to train high school students to do a benchmark energy audit of their school. Al suggested she try contacting that principal about it.  Johanna has contacted Suzanne Lull about getting the kids involved in doing backyard natural resource inventories. Suzanne was interested.

4.0           Update on Old Home Day. Discussed what items we might giveaway at our display booth. Also discussed having a history of hydro in Washington as part of the display.

5.0           New Business: discussed having another green event, possibly in early December. We will keep a look out for movies to show and keep working on how to get more people to participate in the events.

6.0           Johanna got some sheets of how to winterize your home from Home Depot. She will make a card to attach it with Washington Energy Committee info on it and email to Al so he put copies in the Town Hall.

7.0           Ken Eastman popped in and asked the committee to find out why the light which is supposed to shine on the flagpole is on during the day. Johanna will follow up with the vendor.

8.0           The next meeting will be Wednesday, November 13, at 7 p.m.. as Johanna and Lindley will be away during the normal meeting time.

9.0           Meeting adjourned at approximately 8:15 p.m.
